FEEDBACK LOOP 2023

The focus of Feedback Loop lies in exploring the sites and sounds of the surplus of space within New York City to examine the symbiosis of natural and artificial complex systems as a means for imagining new futures. Consisting of 4-channel audio, projections, robotic prototypes, and live performance, Feedback loop uses materials, audio, and video from specific sites as be the primary tools for creation. Our system consists of generating new sounds and visuals that mine this history and explore the implication of accessibility to alternative knowledge as the basis for new ways of moving forward. Performances are scheduled for three weeks in April 2023.

The sound component is comprised of field recordings fed into stochastic models of probability. These sounds then generate data that are used to trigger various synthesizers and audio-processing tools. The result is a mix of improvised synthetic and audio sounds that act as an instrument that communicates with itself and plays on the four-channel audio system. The robot prototype will interact as a conduit for exploring the physical and phenomenological elements of the sites of performance.

Feedback Loop is a system developed by Lucy Hollier, darLane Litaay, and Alex Suarez. This series of performances by Feedback Loop will involve community and site-specific installation.
